Federal Spending Out Of Control!!

The Republican controlled Congress oversaw the second highest federal spending for the  fiscal year 2017, which ended September 30th, since 2009. During 2009, President Barack Obama’s $840 billion stimulus law was enacted. Fiscal year 2017 also saw the second highest real federal individual income tax totals of any year in U.S. history, according to the Monthly Treasury Statement released today. In spite of collecting the third highest total tax revenues in US history, the federal government still ran a deficit of $665,712,000,000 due to spending. What is going on??!!

According to a piece published today by CNSN News,

Republicans have controlled the House of Representatives since 2011, after winning a majority of seats in the 2010 election. They have controlled the Senate since 2015, after winning a majority in the 2014 election. In fiscal years 2016 and 2017, a Congress in which the Republican Party controls both houses was responsible for enacting all federal spending legislation.

Total federal spending in fiscal 2017, according to the Treasury, was $3,980,605,000,000. Total federal tax revenue was $3,314,893,000,000.

Prior to this year, the highest level of real federal spending was the $4,024,794,600,000 in constant 2017 dollars (adjusted using the Bureau of Labor Statistics inflation calculator) that the Treasury spent in fiscal 2009.

In the years after 2009, real federal spending hit its lowest level ($3,633,572,490,000 in constant 2017 dollars) in fiscal 2014. In fiscal years 2015, 2016, and 2017 federal spending has been on the rise again—reaching $3,980,605,000,000 this year, the second highest spending level in the nation’s history.

If the Republicans control Congress, why is spending at such high levels?? Republicans are supposed to reduce spending right? Republicans campaign on such slogans as “Reduce the debt!” Republicans are supposed to be fiscally responsible, at least that is what we are told, maybe they are no different than the Democrats as far as spending the tax payers money? Or did something happen during the Obama administration that caused the Republican controlled Congress to be forced to put forth a budget that kept rising each year?

The answer is both. While yes Republicans are supposed to be fiscally responsible and come through on such campaign promises as reducing spending and reducing the massive debt that lays on the American people like a suffocating weight, some of them are also part of the problem. There needs to term limits to push these career politicians out of Congress because these Rhino’s just serve in their position to serve themselves and their donors. While at the same time the Obama administration, also handed the American people the Affordable Care Act “Obamacare” and other programs, contributed to the federal budget substantially.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the federal government will spend $1.34 trillion over the next decade, if it’s not repealed. In 2016, ObamaCare spending was estimated at $110 billion. Combine that with expensive food stamp programs, green energy programs, and DACA spending has skyrocketed, even though the federal government takes in vast amounts of money by taxing the American people.

The Government Accountability Office routinely finds over $100 billion in annual waste and abuse; it was $125 billion in the last report. The problem is that our Congressmen are out of touch with Americans on both sides of the aisle, and continue to waste our hard earned money!

We MUST drain the swamp!!!
